College, Colombo 03 can be identified as one of the excellent Buddhist Schools
in the Island with a bright History of 58 years which the Light dawned on 05th
January 1954 in Valukarama Maha Viharaya, Kollpity.
Mahanama
College accommodates 5000+ students for doing their academic stuff as well as
supports for extra curricular activities such as Clubs and societies as well as
for Sports. Mahanama College is currently leading with the highest passing rate
related to G.C.E. Ordinary level exams which is above 99.5% since 1989 and the
Alma Mater is a great gateway to the university and for higher education which
shows the academic excellence of Mahanama College.
Mahanama
College is excellent with the extra curricular activities. The most outstanding
Leo Club in Sri Lanka is the “Leo Club of Mahanama College” and the club is
maintaining that title since 1998. Mahanama Cricket Team in all Age categories
is in the Top Ten Cricket Playing Schools in Sri Lanka and Mahanama Rugby Team
is maintaining their standards by retaining within the top 16 Rugby Playing
Schools in Sri Lanka.

Mahanama Rugby Wing is the Official Committee for Governing
Mahanama Rugby Team in All Age categories and it is the Main Facilitator of
Resources to Mahanama Rugby Under the intervention of Old Boys Association of
Mahanama College, Colombo 03 and the School Development Society of Mahanama

Mahanama Rugby has a proud history of 27 years which started to play schools rugby in the year of 1986. In a once, Golden memories of Mahanama Rugby as ranked 3rd Place in the All Island Division one category in 1994/1995, Runners Up in Division 01 – Segment “B” in 2008/2009 etc tells the History is bright and the present is shined under the light of Old.
In present, Under 20 Rugby Team of Mahanama College, Colombo 03 can be introduced as one of the best teams within the Top 16 rugby playing school teams in Sri Lanka and the team is well reputed for high disciplines which they are maintaining in parallel to the high disciplinary culture exists at Mahanama College
Mahanama under 16 team is outstanding with their performances and currently they are retaining in the 2nd place at the All island top category of the league.
